Easter or First Fruits?
The name “Easter” likely comes from the Old English month Ēosturmōnaþ, named after a dawn-related goddess or the direction east, and was later applied to the Christian celebration of Jesus’ resurrection.
The traditional celebration of Easter or Ressurection Day is also a major Jewish feast. The feast of First Fruits. A celebration that occurs during Passover week. God’s provision is acknowledged by presenting the earliest portion of the harvest to Him. First Fruits. This feast is a forshadowing of the resurrection. 1 Cor. 15:20-23 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the first fruits of them that slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
